| Cut two pieces of material 17" x 36" (small for primary grades)
or 20" x 36" (for upper grades) With right sides together, sew up 3 sides. using a 5/8" seam. See figure #1. |

| Turn material inside out and press. (It looks like a pillow case at this
point.) Turn raw edges, on the open side, under 5/8" and top stitch. See figure #2. |

| Fold material 7" down on one side and 12" up on other side. The 7" folded part will fit onto the back of the desk chair. The 12" folded part holds small desk items. See figure #3. |

| Lay the folded material flat and top stitch near the edge of the two sides
of material. You will be sewing through the front and back of the sack. (You might top stitch a second time for extra strength, unless you have a stretch stitch on your sewing machine.) See figure #4. |

| Decorate the 12" pocket with the child's name, patches, iron-on, etc. |
